How it works

What Guard.ch actually is

Guard runs suspicious links in an isolated browser and turns the whole visit into a replayable, shareable report. Whatever a page tried to do, it's all there for you to investigate on your own terms.

02

A throwaway VM in our cloud.

Drive it like a real visitor while Guard records every request and write. The container is wiped the second you leave.

03

Generate the full report.

Replay, network, storage, WHOIS, IP and tech fingerprint. One sharable link.

Suspect sites never touch your network.

Your browser.

You drive the session from any tab. Inputs go out over WebRTC, pixels come back. The page never gets your IP, your fonts or anything that lives on your machine.

Our edge.

Resolution and traffic to the site leave our ASN, not yours. The container that does the visiting is created the moment you click and torn down the moment you walk away.

A throwaway browser.

Lives for the length of one session. Never reuses cookies, fingerprints or storage between users. The page it visited has nothing to remember it by.

Common questions.

What teams ask before they run their first investigation. If something isn't covered here, reach out and we'll walk you through it.

How long can a single session run, and what happens when it ends?
Sessions are capped per plan: 1 minute on Free, 5 minutes on Solo, longer on team plans. When you hit the limit the session finalises itself and the timeline, network log and video are archived to your workspace. You can also stop early at any time and the partial capture is still saved.
Where is our session data stored, and how long do you keep it?
All captures live in our Hetzner datacenter in Helsinki, Finland. Free captures are retained for 1 day; paid-plan captures are retained for 1 month. The edge nodes that actually run the live browser never persist anything to disk.
What happens to our captures if we cancel?
Captures are deleted when their retention window expires, and paid-plan captures are deleted no later than 1 month after subscription end. You can delete captures from the dashboard at any time. Billing and tax records are kept for 10 years to satisfy Swiss tax law.
Are you SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certified, and is a DPA available?
SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 are on the roadmap and not yet attested; we won't claim otherwise. A pre-signed GDPR Art. 28 Data Processing Addendum is available on every plan, including Free, with 48-hour customer breach notification and annual audit rights. GDPR and Swiss FADP are in scope and complied with today.
What happens if we run out of investigations mid-month?
Two paths, configurable per workspace. Either new sessions are paused until your next cycle, or overages are billed at the rate shown in your dashboard. Unused investigations do not roll over between cycles.
What does the browser extension actually do?
It adds a right-click menu that opens the link or message you select in a fresh investigation. Available for Chrome, Edge, Outlook and Gmail. It only acts when you invoke it; it does not read pages in the background or send your browsing history anywhere. If you'd rather skip it, paste any link directly at guard.ch.
